Director of National Library Inaugurates Reading Mother of North Maluku: Synergy, Collaboration for Literacy Index Improvement

Salemba, Jakarta – Director of National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando confirmed Faoniah Djaohar Kasuba as Reading Mother of North Maluku for the period 2020-2024, Wednesday (21/10). It is expected that the presence of Reading Mother in the midst of North Maluku people can be a role model and inspiration in the efforts to build a prosperous society.

"Reading mother has a wide reach and access to the community. The role that reading mothers have to increase reading fodness in various regions is enormous,” said Syarif Bando. Even though it is carried out online, the inauguration of Reading Mother will support various literacy activities in North Maluku to run better and optimally.

In addition, Director of National Library also invited to always work together in realising government programmes in improving the quality of human resources. Syarif Bando appreciates North Maluku provincial government for giving great attention to library management and developing reading culture.

According to Syarif Bando, the biggest challenge faced by Reading Mother and the government today is providing access so that it can foster reading culture in the communities.

"National Library is ready to assist North Maluku government in providing various facilities, such as digital library which can be used in synergy with local government for the needs of the community," he added.

In line with the statement of Director of National Library, North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba said that the inauguration of Reading Mother is not only an appreciation from National Library but also a mandate to continue to encourage its role in educating the life of the nation.

"We are ready to collaborate and synergise with National Library or all parties so that fostering reading fondness can grow so that it can increase national literacy index. In addition, North Maluku government is ready to provide a representative library as a source of information and public knowledge, he hoped. At the end of the inauguration, Director of National Library handed over a stimulant in the form of a mobile library car for North Maluku provincial government.
