Regent of Deli Serdang: Deli Serdang Regency to Build Library with Rp. 10 Billion in 2021

Deli Serdang, North Sumatra - The National Library's support for the development of library and literacy in Deli Serdang Regency was greeted with joy by the Regent of Deli Serdang Ashari Tambunan. These efforts are in accordance with the development vision of Deli Serdang Regency, namely progress and prosperity with a harmonious society in diversity.

"The way to realize Deli Serdang's development vision is knowledge. Reading and literacy skills are the key words," said Ashari before opening the talk show 'The Enhancement of Community Literacy Index' in the Hall of Deli Serdang Regent, Monday (9/28).

Construction of a new library building in Deli Serdang Regency will be built in 2021 using a Special Allocation Fund (DAK) worth Rp. 10 billion. The regent believes that this library will be very representative and modern.

The Regent admitted that so far, many people have forgotten the library. The public is more familiar with it as a book warehouse. However, along with the development of civilization, what must be changed is the mindset. Therefore, literacy is crucial.

It is indeed easier to see the progress of a country's civilization. Just look at the condition of the library. It is very easy to characterize it because the library will be identified as an intellectual institution.

National Library visit to Deli Serdang Regency will not have an instant impact on the progress of society. However, positive changes will be seen in the next 5-10 years.

"This what makes us excited to go forward and it requires support from many parties, such as the National Library," concluded the Regent.
