Appreciating Librarian and Library User, National Library Presents Award

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) presents awards to librarians who have provided excellent and professional service to the community. In addition, National Library of Indonesia also gives appreciation to best library users who have taken advantage of National Library services.

National Library of Indonesia librarians Agung Dwi Setyo Nurcahyo and Hety Setiawati were selected to be the best librarians in performing public service. Meanwhile, best library user awards were given to a student of Universitas Islam Jakarta, Yusuf Rizal Tuloti, and Zubair Hakim Abdul Jabbar who is only four years old. Best librarians and library users got placards and souvenirs from National Library.

Deputy of Library Material Development and Information Services of National Library Ofy Sofiana stated that in order to create professional, quality, neutral, and clean state civil apparatus (ASN) from corruption, collusion, and nepotism, ASN career development must be carried out based on merit system. Presenting awards to librarians performing public service the best, said Ofy Sofiana, is a form of employee coaching based on merit system as regulated in Law Number 25 of 2009 on Public Services.

"Presenting awards to public service librarians at National Library is expected to encourage librarians’ morale and professionalism in providing the best possible service to the community. Because the most essential is that library services provided must be able to satisfy library users in fulfilling their information needs," she said during the award ceremony to Best Public Service Librarian and Library User 2020 which was held at National Library of Indonesia Service Facility Building, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 11, Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/12/2020).

Apart from carrying out mandate of the law, Ofy Sofiana explained, this award shows the readiness of National Library of Indonesia in implementing bureaucratic reform.

Assistant Deputy for Policy Implementation and Regional Public Service Evaluation Region II of the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Noviana Andrina expressed her appreciation to National Library for presenting awards to librarians for providing service the best to visitors.

With complete building services and facilities, National Library is expected to be able to carry out its main duties and functions in educating the nation. "For those who look at the library because this is the entrance, when we can read all the literature here, will be superior human being," she explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Library Information Services and Manuscripts Management Centre of National Library of Indonesia, Teguh Purwanto, explained that in selecting librarian performing public service the best, the assessment is carried out based on discipline, performance behaviour, and innovation. The names of best librarians were selected based on the results of the assessment from library users obtained by distributing questionnaires, then virtual presentation selection.

After being appointed as the best library user, Yusuf Rizal Tuloti, appreciated the excellent and superior service of National Library of Indonesia librarian. This student majoring in philosophy admitted that he regularly visits National Library for up to four days a week.
