Desiring for Quality HR, Universitas Indonesia Timur Signs MoU wit National Library

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta – Director of National Library (Perpusnas) Muhammad Syarif Bando signed a collaboration pact or MoU with Rector of Universitas Indonesia Timur Andi Maryam, Tuesday (13/10). The MoU between Universitas Indonesia Timur (UIT) and National Library includes aspects of service, development, and fostering of UIT library.

UIT is a private university founded in 2001 in Makassar. UIT has 22 study programmes from 11 faculties. Currently UIT has no less than 12,000 students and 244 lecturers. In order to produce quality graduates, UIT hopes to obtain assistance from National Library.

"Our students have not been exposed to e-learning and digital libraries, for that we hope that National Library can foster, direct, and provide facilities at National Library," said Andy.

Responding to this, Director of National Library said that the main gate for improving the quality of human resources is at the higher education level. Furthermore, Syarif Bando emphasised that the digital era which is developing very rapidly must be utilised and balanced by all types of public service fields, including libraries.

"Digital library has tremendous benefits. National Library in this case has several digital library services that can be accessed by the public. One of them is Indonesia OneSearch (IOS) which can be used to find reference journals," explained Syarif Bando. Syarif Bando also expects that in the future UIT graduates can become qualified human resources who are able to compete with graduates from other universities in finding jobs, even creating jobs.
