Director of National Library Attends Virtual Indonesia’s Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - Director of National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando together with Prime Secretary Woro Titi Haryanti, Deputy of Library Material Development and Information Services Ofy Sofiana, and Deputy of Library Resources Development Deni Kurniadi attended seconds of commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia virtually, on Monday, (17/8). In addition to being attended by high and middle level officials, nine other pratama officials took part in the celebration of independence from National Library of Indonesia theatre room solemnly.

The 75th anniversary of Indonesia's independence this year is felt very special considering the pandemic that is still happening in Indonesia and many countries, implementation of the flag raising was carried out while still following strict health protocol recommendations. Ministers, heads of institutions, local leaders, as well as guests from neighbouring countries who usually follow the ceremony directly from the State Palace, this time could only watch and follow the ceremony virtually.

As the leader of the ceremony, President Joko Widodo wore traditional clothing from Timur Tengah Selatan (TTS), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province. Quoted from detik.com, the clothes that President Jokowi donned is full of meaning. The cloth worn by the President is the cloth with Nunkolo kaif chain motif. Nunkolo is one of regions in TTS. The motif is modified from a rhombus shape (geometric motif) with a middle stem symbolising water source. On the edge of the cloth there is a jagged motif symbolising the hilly and winding TTS area.

"The red color symbolises the courage of Nunkolo men," wrote Press Bureau of Presidential Secretariat.
