Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas: During the Pandemic, Libraries are No Longer Oriented to be Visited

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - The accumulation of one's abilities, starting from knowledge, skills, understanding combined with endless experience is the meaning of literacy. Also about various community literacy skills about Covid-19. There are those who are afraid, anxious, and indifferent. The community's feedback determines the extent to which health protection is carried out properly.

The community needs to be stimulated, so that there is curiosity about why the Covid-19 pandemic occurred. What to be afraid of, be aware of, so it will not disturb the socio-economic activities of the community.

"Simple daily activities, such as the recommendation to wash hands, use masks/face shields, physical distancing, will not be new but a common habit. Because customization will become a daily activity," said Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, keynote speaker at the webinar 'Rise Up from the Pandemic with Literacy', Wednesday (6/17).

Suharso added that in the midst of a pandemic situation, libraries are no longer oriented towards being visited but must provide books that are easily accessible. Read something that is fresh, creative, which makes someone more intelligent, smarter, and more informative. Thus, the library can be an example for the 4.0 generation.

I hope that the role of libraries in the future besides being a center of knowledge and innovation that encourages innovation and creativity of the nation, is also able to play a role as a center for community activities.
