Director of National Library: National Library guarantees digital access for public
Senayan, Jakarta - National Library has provided the widest access possible to people who want to enjoy their digital collection. Namely through applications such as IOS, IPusnas, and Khastara.
This was conveyed directly by Director of the National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando while attending a library seminar entitled "Complete Access to National Work" in Abdul Muis Room of DPR RI Complex Senayan, Tuesday (11/12).
Syarif explained the importance of the library's role as an institution of civilization guardian. "Library must be able to preserve the nation works that they have in order to become a bridge of past, present and future knowledge through their collections," he explained.
With the existence of a digital library, National Library guarantees access to public to be fonder of reading whenever and wherever. "Because reading is a capital to build a nation," said Syarif.
Syarif further explained, reading guarantees the sustainability of a nation. By reading, public will know history, so they know how to deal with the future. As well as how the life and values of a nation are built.
Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X Ferdiasyah on the same occasion expressed the hope that library will continue to grow. "I hope library will be able to be presented in several tourist attractions, for example for political tourism," he said.
Ferdi also explained the importance of increasing cooperation with tertiary institutions so that journal e-resources do not get duplicated with existing ones, preparing higher quality of human resources and complete infrastructure in dealing with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
Also present on this occasion Deputy of Library Resources Development Division of the National Library of Indonesia Woro Titi Haryanti and Deputy of DPR RI Trial Division Damayanti.
