KPDI 12, Library Realizing the Digital Library Ecosystem 4.0

Banda Aceh, Aceh – The 12th Indonesian Digital Library Conference (KPDI) was officially opened by Banda Aceh Mayor, Aminullah Usman, at Hermes Hotel, Banda Aceh, Aceh, on Tuesday (11/12/2019). This year, KPDI 12 carries the theme "Mewujudkan Ekosistem Perpustakaan Digital 4.0 dan Society 5.0 dalam Meningkatkan Daya Saing Bangsa".

The opening of the event was marked by a pat on the board (rapa’i) by the Mayor along with Deputy of Library Material Development and Information Services of the National Library, Ofy Sofiana, Chairman of Indonesian Digital Library Forum, Zainal Hasibuan, Deputy Rector I of Universitas Syiah Kuala Marwan, and Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Library Head, Unsyiah Rudi Kurniawan.

In her remarks, Ofy Sofiana stated the emergence of the industrial revolution 4.0 made a new face in the phase of technological advances. The National Library has built a science-based digital ecosystem by providing one million books that can be downloaded by all Indonesian people. "In recent years the development of digital library has received a positive response. It even succeeded in gaining national and international standard achievements," she explained in front of 450 participants from various libraries throughout Indonesia.

The National Library has developed a variety of collections and services in digital form including Online Membership Service, Utilization of Electronic Scientific Journals (e-resources), Digital Repository Network Center (Indonesia OneSearch), iPusnas mobile digital library, development of Digital Reading Corner and Khasanah Pustaka Nusantara Service (Khastara).

Meanwhile, Zainal Hasibuan said that many things have been done by library in facing technological changes. In the era of digital library 4.0, almost everything is available in the form of digitization and everything worked automatically. Here, technology is the center of activity.

Facing society 5.0, Zainal invited participants to respond to a variety of changing environmental conditions. "Here, we formulate and respond to what we will do. So from here our vision will be stronger in the future by utilizing existing information. So here we equate perception together because it's difficult on our own. This is where it means to increase the competitiveness of the nation because we master technology, information and using our resources so that competitiveness increases," he said when delivering a speech.

KPDI 12 will be held on November 12-15, 2019. For two days, there will be seminars and panel discussions to strengthening and utilization the digital library.
