KPDI 12 Recommends the Development of Digital Library to be Performed Inclusively

Banda Aceh, Aceh - The development of Indonesian Digital Library will be carried out inclusively to increase the library's usability to improve community welfare. This is one of the seven recommendations of Indonesian Digital Library Conference (KPDI) 12.

KPDI 12 was held in Banda Aceh, Aceh, on November 12-13, 2019 with theme "Mewujudkan Ekosistem Perpustakaan Digital 4.0 dan Society 5.0 dalam Meningkatkan Daya Saing Bangsa". The closing of KPDI 12 resulted in seven recommendations for the development of digital library and the theme of KPDI 13 which will take place in Solo, Central Java.

Chairman of the Indonesian Digital Library Forum (FPDI), Zainal Hasibuan, said that library managers must make every effort so that all Indonesian citizens can access digital library and no one is left behind.

The Professor of Universitas Indonesia added that in accordance with the Policy Direction and Strategy for Library Development in National Medium-Term Development Plan 2020-2024, digital library development in Indonesia in the future must be synchronized through the Strategic Plan for National Digital Library Development 2020-2024. The strategic plan will be prepared by FPDI and included in the FPDI work plan 2020.

"So before the 13th KPDI, we drafted a strategic plan for the development of the national digital library 2020-2024," explained Zainal Hasibuan in closing KPDI 12 at Hermes Hotel, Banda Aceh, Aceh, on Wednesday (11/13/2019).

The development of the Indonesian Digital Library, said Zainal, will be oriented to support the development of superior and competitive human resources. This can be achieved through information and knowledge resources. "This is through improvement of public connectivity to various information and knowledge resources; increasing access and availability of open information and knowledge resources and strengthening the context of information and knowledge resources according to the information needs of every Indonesian citizen," he explained.

Next year, KPDI will be held for the 13th time in 2020 in Solo, Central Java. The theme carried is "Revitalisasi Perpustakaan Digital dalam Percepatan Transformasi Masyarakat Informasi menuju Masyarakat Sejahtera". In KPDI 12, the formulation of digital library in dealing destructive conditions is strengthened to respond the rapidly developing technology.

"So if we look at the essence of society 5.0, humans are the center of activities where technology is prospering human beings. Well, before that prosperous society is information. We have begun to strengthen/sharpen the formulations of digital library in addressing the destructive nature that is happening around us because technology is developing rapidly, hopefully we also change quickly. Here we formulate the ecosystem; in 2020 we strengthen the contents of the ecosystem. That is roughly written, implied for KPDI 13," he said. At the closing, Zainal announced that his management period would end this year. Jonner Hasugian was elected as the new chairman of FPDI for 2019-2023 period.
