Preventing Drug Abuse, National Library Staff Perform Urine Test

Salemba, Jakarta – Implementing presidential instruction (Inpres) No. 6 of 2018 regarding action plan for Drug Abuse Eradication and Dark Circulation Prevention (P4GN), National Library in collaboration with National Narcotics Agency (BNN) conducts socialization of drugs danger and urine test.

As many as hundreds of employees in the National Library environment, underwent urine test. This is done to anticipate employees that use drugs. "It is hoped that the National Library of Indonesia can anticipate and participate in efforts to tackle drug abuse. Especially in work environment of government agency," said the Head of General Bureau of the National Library, Joko Budi Santoso.

On that occasion, the Head of Education Environment Sub Directorate for Community Participation Directorate, Deputy of BNN Community Empowerment Division, Wildah Dj, presented data on the prevalence of drug abusers in Indonesia, from which workers rank first as the most drug users. And South Sumatra, East Kalimantan and West Java are among the three provinces with the highest prevalence rates based on drug use status in the past year.

"Based on data owned by BNN, the prevalence of drug users among workers is 2.1%," she said.

Furthermore, Wildah Dj invited State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the National Library of Indonesia to become anti-drug activists in Drug Abuse Eradication and Dark Circulation Prevention (P4GN). Among them by participating in prevention efforts and reporting if a relative is found using drug.

"Through this activity, it is expected that all ASN can understand the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking so that they can be an extension of BNN as anti-drug activists in the National Library at once creating a clean work environment from drug abuse and illicit trafficking," she said.
