Instating 300 New National Library PNS, Director of National Library: Ignore the Paradigm that Indonesia’s Reading Culture is Low

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - International opinion has already placed Indonesians’ reading culture index low. In fact, these opinions are often written and delivered by various NGOs, including mass media on various occasions.

"That wrong viewpoint must be changed because on the other hand, the world also recognises that National Library is the best in the presentation of scientific articles. No less than three billion articles can be accessed free of charge," explained Director of National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando after inaugurating 300 new civil servants of National Library on Monday (3/2/2020).

Director of National Library also reminded that until whenever it is, library is the source of information for the community. No less than 270 million Indonesians want information that suits their needs. So, do not vex anyone who visits and wants to obtain information and knowledge.

"Especially for librarians, they no longer work just buying books, keeping books from rotting. Librarians have to look for a lot of data sources, process them, present them, and deliver them to the public so that information continuity is maintained, "said Syarif Bando.
