Improving Service, Bogor Municipal Government Revitalises Library

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - Archives and Library Service Office of Bogor Municipality is carrying out library revitalization with the budget of 24 billion, but currently only 15 billion has been realised. This is a form of commitment from Bogor municipal government in developing libraries in the region. This was conveyed by Head of Archives and Library Service Office of Bogor Municipality Agus Prihanto during a work visit to National Library, (5/2).

"In this revitalisation development, there are still many things that need to be improved. For this reason, we came to National Library to find out how to manage a modern library. Even though we have received accreditation B, but there are still many shortcomings, so we hope for assistance from National Library to take part in filling the content in the library," he said.

in addition to wanting to see modern library management, Agus continued, his party also wanted to see ancient manuscripts at National Library, especially manuscripts about Bogor. For the future, at the new library of Bogor Municipality, a special gallery will be established presenting references on Bogor from time to time.

"The Mayor wants historical information about Bogor in the library. Considering that Padjadjaran Kingdom is still lacking in reference compared to other kingdoms which have many relics. So, the existence of Bogor gallery can add information on the history of Bogor for its residents," he continued.

In response, Director of National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando appealed to Archives and Library Service Office of Bogor Municipality to propose special allocation fund. In addition, he is ready to cooperate in the procurement of ancient manuscript references related to the history of Bogor.
