Pekalongan Regent Admires National Library’s Grandeur

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta-Pekalongan Regent Asip Kholbihi visited National Library service facility building on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan Jakarta, Wednesday (19/2). Asip accompanied by Head of Library and Archives Service of Pekalongan Titik Iriyanti expressed admiration for the magnificent service building owned by National Library.

"I'm very impressed. The building is so magnificent. The facility is complete and answer the challenges of times. The staff are friendly. It's very different from the library back then," he said.

Asip also hopes that in the future not only in the capital, but libraries with modern governance will be available in every region including Pekalongan. "With advanced and modern library all people can learn. I believe that libraries can play a role in creating extraordinary generations, that can master science and technology, and do not lose their identity as Indonesians," said Asip.

Director of National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando who received the visit conveyed the need for a strong commitment from local leaders in encoraging regional library development to be more advanced.

"National Library will always be ready to support and work together with all local governments. If regional libraries are advanced, Indonesia will also be advanced," said Syarif.
