Pocadi’s Existence Benefits Coastal Community

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - The existence of Digital Reading Corner or Pocadi at KN Tanjung Datu which is the largest patrol vessel owned by Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), can be felt by coastal communities. Such was conveyed by Head of Domestic Cooperation Sub-Directorate of Bakamla, Colonel Eli Susiyanti during her visit to National Library Service Building, Thursday (20/2).

Eli said, following up MoU in the field of library signed on March 21, 2019, KN Tanjung Datu had received grant assistance from National Library. The assistance has benefitted coastal communities, such as Natuna Islands and many coastal areas which become KN Tanjung Datu spots to stop over.

"We hold an open ship in the area where we anchor. In these activities, the community is allowed to board the ship and enjoy the library service in it. The community is very enthusiastic about the existence of this digital corner library. Collection grant from National Library has benefitted community," she said.

Furthermore, Eli explained, even her party introduced Pocadi to various meetings at home and abroad. "We are proud to introduce it to the international world through joint posts that KN Tanjung Datu is one of the KNs equipped with a digital library that can be utilised by coastal communities," she explained.

Meanwhile, Director of National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando said, collaboration was an effort of National Library in developing library so that it could be accessed by the entire communities. "Bakamla has access to coasts even to borders, so that the library in KN Tanjung Datu can embrace people on the coast. This is in accordance with shared hopes to educate the community," he said.
