Pancoran, Jakarta - Library must change its appearance, because library is not an office but an open space that can be utilised by the public. This was said by Director of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Culture of Bappenas, Hadiat, in his presentation at National Coordination Meeting on Library, (27/2) with the theme "Optimisation of National Priority Activities / Social Inclusion-based Library Transformation."
"Library is made as attractive as possible in order to encourage people to visit library. If libraries in the regions starting from province, regency / municipality, village or even at education unit are already attractive, it is expected that literacy culture can be realised," he said.
Furthermore, Hadiat said that development of quality and competitive human resources was included in RPJMN 2020-2024 policy. One of the strategies to strengthen library is to expand library's physical DAK assistance for equal access and quality of library services in the regions.
"In terms of appearance, library must change physically. Library today seems to be an ordinary office; in that I imagine library offices are like attractive outlets so that many people come to visit. Do not build physically ordinary library. It is how DAK is intended for physical development, build attractive service offices," he said.
Hadiat explained, this was an effort to form quality, productive human resources, mastering science and technology, and innovation. Quality human resources is a demand to realise the vision of Indonesia 2045, namely a modern economy with a high level of quality welfare.
"We already have a vision to celebrate 100 years of Indonesia's independence, at that time we have expectations that Indonesia would have a high income. This is where the role of libraries is needed to support all pillars as well as foundation to strengthen the quality of human resources," he explained.
