Tanggamus Regency Prepares 2,000 m2 Land for New Library Building

Salemba, Jakarta - Since its establishment 22 years ago, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung, is still considered to have many shortcomings, especially in terms of the quality of human resources. This was conveyed directly by the Regent of Tanggamus, Dewi Handajani, during a work visit to the National Library, Thursday (1/9).

Dewi said that in the digital era like today, it is very easy for everyone to get any information through the internet, but many of the information contains hoaxes. Therefore, she continued to recommend reading books.

"The reading interest of Tanggamus community is high. However, we need a representative library building to support people's enthusiasm in reading," said Dewi.

The Regent's speech was strengthened by what is said by the Head of Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Tanggamus Regency, Hendra Wijaya Mega, that his party has prepared an area of 2,000 square meters for the construction of regional library building.

Hearing the explanation, Director of the National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando, expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Tanggamus Regency to improve literacy and public reading interest. Syarif Bando also revealed that the National Library will make maximum efforts to support the construction of library building in the Regency of Tanggamus, of course, by completing several existing requirements.

"We appreciate and support the construction of the library building that has been said. But other requirements, such as land certificate, Detailed Engineering Design (DED-red), and others must be well prepared so that all processes can be well passed," explained Syarif Bando.

On the same occasion, the Regent of Tanggamus in particular also invited the Director of National Library to come to the launch of Tanggamus Regency as the Literacy Regency and the inauguration of the Literacy Mother on January 20, 2020.
