Commemoration of 91st Mother’s Day: Empowered Women Advanced Indonesia
Salemba, Jakarta - In commemoration of 91st Mother's Day, National Library held a ceremony at National Library parking lot on Monday (10/23). Acting as inspector of the ceremony Deputy of Library Resources Development, Woro Titi Haryanti, conveyed the struggle of Indonesian women who have gone through a long process in realising their equal roles and positions with men because in truth they are both human resources and potential that determine the success of development.
"The nature of the commemoration of Mother's Day every year is to remind all Indonesians, especially younger generation of the meaning and essence of Mother's Day as a momentum of national awakening, raising a sense of unity and oneness as well as the movement of women's struggle that cannot be separated from the history of Indonesian nation struggle," Woro said when reading remarks from Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati.
The main theme raised in the commemoration of 91st Mother's Day is "Empowered Women Advanced Indonesia". 2019 is the starting point of “accelerating" the movement of women's empowerment in various fields of development and provides protection for women to realise President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo’s direction.
Therefore, to overcome these challenges it is necessary to involve all elements of society and multi-stakeholder including the role of men in campaigns supporting prevention of violence and achievement of gender equality. In addition, the involvement of men in "He for She" is one of the global commitments that must be encouraged at grassroots level.
For the closing, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, in her speech invited all women to go forward, be able to become an independent, creative, innovative, confident, and certainly with men will be a great force that ensures the realisation of superior and competitive human resources towards Advanced Indonesia.
