Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency Wants to Build a National Standard Library

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - A number of members from Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency DPRD along with the Head of Hulu Sungai Selatan Library and Archives Service Office done a work visit to National Library. The group was received directly by the Deputy of Library Resources Development, Woro Titi Haryanti, on the 5th Floor of National Library Services Facility Building at Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 11, on Thursday (11/21).

This work visit is intended to find out the mechanism and requirements regarding library building construction in the area through special allocation funds (DAK).

Starting the conversation, the Chairperson of Commission I DPRD for Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, Yopie Alfiani, explained that Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency Government wants to build a national standard library building. The capacity and availability of libraries owned by local governments are not enough to accommodate users and public who are hungry for knowledge.

"We want to know besides land certificate, what other requirement should we fulfil to apply for the library building construction," he asked.

Responding to this, Deputy 2 of National Library appreciated the desire of South Hulu Sungai Regency Government in developing library facilities and efforts to motivate the reading culture in their area.

"Indeed, the library must transform from being only a place where to store books into a place where to share knowledge and skills," she said.

Meanwhile, Head of Special and Public Library Development Division, Nurhadi Saputra, added that in Krisna application there are six menus for the use of DAK in library field, including building construction, expansion, renovation, furniture, ICT (information and communication technology), and collections.

"For the construction of a library building, conditions  that must be attached in addition to a land ownership letter (SHM), is also Detailed Engineering Design or DED," he explained.
