Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta – "National Bibliography and National Union Catalogue are the must-do publications by national libraries around the world," said Prita Wulandari, Head of Sub-Directorate of Bibliography as a speaker on website socialisation at National Library Soekarman theatre on Wednesday (18/9).
The BNI and KIPI websites managed by Deposit Directorate are two sites that are socialised on the website socialisation event. The socialisation was part of Perpusnas Expo series of activities held in the framework of Library Visit Day on September 14.
Indonesian National Bibliography (BNI) contains list of published books in Indonesia, including translated books. The benefit of BNI for the communities, especially for those engage in the field of libraries, that is they can easily select books for procurement at their respective libraries. Meanwhile, the list of books about Indonesia published abroad, written by Indonesian and foreign publishers are in Biblioteka Indonesiana.
Union Catalogue of Indonesian Libraries (KIPI) is an application for collecting and processing catalogue metadata in library networks. The application was developed by National Library since 2018 to accommodate the needs of drafting Regional Bibliography and Regional Union Catalogue. KIPI can be downloaded and installed in the mini server. This application is created to ease data collection nationwide and useful not only for library community, but also librarians and library users.
