Libraries should be Able to Reach Communities

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta -- Library is a state fortress. Through library nation's civilisation can also be built well.

This was conveyed by Chairman of Commission E DPRD of South Sulawesi, A. Kadir Halid, during work visit to National Library on Wednesday (18/9).

"We would like to know how to develop library in South Sulawesi. Frankly, reading interest in our area is still low, but to achieve welfare we should start with reading," Kadir Halid said.

Responding to this, Director of National Library said that library should have knowledge transfer capabilities. One of the efforts is that library should reach the communities.

"Library buildings are necessary, but in today's digital era libraries should also evolve, for example by creating digital library application so that people easily read books anywhere and anytime," said Syarif Bando.

On the same occasion, Regent Nagekeo Johanes Don Bosco Do invited Director of National Library to attend annual literacy event Nagekeo Literacy Festival 2019.

"Nagekeo wishes for Director of National Library to be able to spare the time to attend Nagekeo Literacy Festival 2019 on September 30," said Johanes.

Syarif Bando expressed his gratitude and respect for the invitation and hoped to attend.
