Bima Municipal Builds Library at City Centre

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta-Bima Municipal, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is dubbed the centre of education because there are seven higher education institutions in it. For this reason, the presence of regional library is a necessity because the quality of education cannot improve without reading. This was conveyed by Bappeda of Bima Municipal, Fahrurraji, during work visit to National Library on Friday (2/8).

Head of Bima Municipal Library and Archives Service, Mahfud, added that the location of regional library would be on downtown main road. The surroundings will also be equipped with facilities such as park and cafeteria, thus it is expected to attract public interest to visit and read the books. "We want to build regional library that is representative and enjoyable for all circles of society," he explained.

Responding to that, Director of National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando, expressed his appreciation for the plan to build regional library in Bima Municipal and will try to provide as much support as possible. "Library is the same as education, in other words, library is a place to build civilisation," said Syarif Bando.

Last but not least, Syarif Bando also reminded Bima Municipal to immediately complete and upload the necessary requirements such as land certificate and building design into Krisna application so that the submission of Allocation Fund (DAK) proposal for the construction of regional library building can be immediately processed.
