North Musi Rawas Regency Builds Children-Friendly Library

Salemba, Jakarta - North Musi Rawas Regency is still relatively young. Regency that was formed through expansion programme in 2013 does not have library service building until now. This was conveyed directly by Head of DPRD Commission I of North Musi Rawas Regency, Hasran Akwa, during discussion with National Library, Wednesday (7/8).

"In order to meet the needs of the community, especially children, we want a library," he said. Hasran hopes that library can improve people’s quality of life. Moreover, North Musi Rawas Regency is very close to Anak Dalam Tribe.

"We have worked closely with Women Empowerment and Children Protection Office Service to build a library for children's reading community in our area," he added. However, the lack of children's reading books is also a barrier. Therefore, National Library assistance is highly expected.

Responding to this, Director of Library Material Deposit of National Library, Nurcahyono, expressed his appreciation to North Musi Rawas Regency Government for their concern on regional library. Government through National Library has provided physical assistance through Special Allocation Fund (DAK) programme. "DAK proposal can be submitted through KRISNA application," Nurcahyono added.

In addition, Nur added that for the reading community we also have separate assistance scheme. With this assistance National Library expects that community reading culture, especially in regions such as North Musi Rawas Regency can continue to increase through the growth of reading community.
