Jusuf Kalla: State Civil Apparatus (ASN) Must Serve

Senayan, Jakarta-- Main principle of civil servants’ duty is to serve public. This was conveyed by Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Presidential Lecture held at Istora Senayan, Wednesday (24/07). The theme for this year's President Lecture is "Synergy to Serve".

In the event attended by 6,148 Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) 2018 from 78 Ministries/Institutions, Vice President Jusuf Kalla explained that serving would differ in many ways depending on the duty of a civil servant. "Serving certainly varies depending on the duty. This is carried out to realise a government with a good bureaucratic system and ready to compete for the nation progress," he explained.

In the event held for the second time, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Syafruddin, also said that Indonesia is now ranked 45th out of 140 countries in the index of readiness to face Industrial Revolution 4.0, so it is necessary to prepare smart ASN. "In line with the priorities of human resource development, we are preparing smart generation of ASN to face challenges, disruption, and industrial revolution 4.0," said Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.

Next Syafruddin explained that in the selection of CPNS 2018 as many as 180,644 participants passed the selection for 238,015 formations in 76 ministries and 525 local governments. Also present as speakers Pan Suk Kim (South Korea Former Minister of Personnel Management), Bambang Brodjonegoro (Bappenas RI), and Wishnutama (Chief Commissioner of Net TV Media / Creative Director for the opening and closing of the 18th Asian Games 2018.
