Banjarbaru Municipal DPRD Consulted on Library Regional Regulation Drafting

Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta – Banjarbaru Municipal DPRD, South Kalimantan, is currently drafting Regional Regulation on Library. This was acknowledged by Head of Banjarbaru Municipal DPRD, AR Iwansyah, on his official visit to National Library, Friday (5/7).

"At the moment we are working on a regional regulation draft concerning library. However, we also want to ask for input from National Library. So hopefully with the issuance of this regional regulation, libraries in Banjarbaru Municipal will be better in the future," he explained.

Responding to this, Head of Library Development and Reading Interest Study Center of National Library, Deni Kurniadi, explained all aspects of library consisting of library administrators, library managers, library services, collections, facilities and library staff which were drafted in the drafting of Library Regional Regulation must refer to Law Number 43 of 2007 on Library and PP Number 24 of 2014 as a derivative of Law No. 43.

However, Banjarbaru City DPRD is suggested to see National Library's JDIH portal as a reference to draft Regional Regulation. "On the portal, we have compiled regional regulations related to library," explained Head of Law and Organisation of National Library, Budi Kusumawardani.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Collection Service Division (LKU), Luthfiati Makarim, called for attention from DPRD and service office so that the existence of service building and facilities could encourage acceleration of reading fondness and also dissemination of knowledge. "Provide collections that suit your needs and promote the richness of Indonesian culture," she explained.
