Director of National Library of Indonesia: Not Disciplined, Civil Servants Can Be Dismissed
Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta - Government Regulation (PP) No. 30 of 2019 on Performance Assessment of Civil Servants (Civil Servants) contains points discussing performance evaluation of civil servants based on achievement system and career system. The sanctions vary, ranging from administrative sanctions to dismissals.
This was stated by Director of National Library of Indonesia Muhammad Syarif Bando in Guidance Meeting on the Description of National Library Programme on Tuesday (16/7), which was attended by echelon 2 officials, intemediate librarians, first librarians and all National Library staff.
"At the present time, civil servant performance is very much observed and monitored, so those who are not disciplined and cannot meet SKP requirement can be dismissed. For that, I urge all employees to improve their performance, "said Syarif Bando.
The meeting also discussed Indonesia's vision and mission for the next five years. The five priority work programmes are infrastructure, HR, investment, RB (Bureaucracy Reformation) and the use of APBN funds.
As it is known, National Library is a government institution formed to become source of information for the public. The three main tasks carried out by National Library are managing its own collection of books, managing knowledge and then distributing them to the public, and meeting world library standards.
Syarif further explained, in order to be able to carry out the three tasks well, professional HR is needed and follows a standard system (library national standard). Because as is well known, so far the public has considered civil servants slow and lazy.
"To fulfil the demands of RB work programme, the image of civil servant, especially at National Library, must be transformed into skilled, innovative and competent civil servant. In addition, the work culture must also be changed by increasing work target from the existing one, "he explained.
