Library Service Office of Tanah Bumbu Regency Needs Facilities and Infrastructure

Salemba, Jakarta – To complete the facilities and infrastructure of library building in Tanah Bumbu Regency, members of Tanah Bumbu Regency DPRD made a work visit to National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. The work visit was conducted in the context of consultation on submission of Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for Library field proposal in 2020 from that regency in South Kalimantan.

The delegation was led by Deputy Head of Tanah Bumbu Regency DPRD Hasanuddin and Head of Library and Archives Service Office of Tanah Bumbu Regency Ambo Sakko along with staff and received by Head of Library Development and Reading Interest Studies Centre Deni Kurniadi and National Library Intermediate Librarian Renus Siboro, Intermediate Librarian Yahyono, Intermediate Librarian Sukoyo, and Intermediate Librarian Asep Muslih.

Ambo Sakka said that he had submitted an application for four grant menus related to facilities and infrastructure existing in DAK for Library field in 2020. Those four grant menus are expansion, information and communication technology (ICT), furniture, and library collection. Ambo Sakka expected that one of the applications submitted can be accepted so that the grant can fill the library building which is currently under construction.

This year, Tanah Bumbu Regency received DAK in Library field for library building construction. “The building construction process has reached 20 percent. Our target is, it must be completed by the end of this year. So, the building has already existed, then we surely need facilities and infrastructure to fill it,” he explained at National Library Deputy 2 Meeting Room, Jl. Salemba Raya No. 28A, Jakarta, on Thursday (20/6/2019).

Meanwhile, Deni Kurniadi said that regional library service office is allowed to submit application. However, the decision of DAK for Library field recipient in 2020 is going to be determined at the end of this year. “The certain thing for expansion is that it requires DED (Detail Engineering Design, red). It has to be completed and building construction must be conducted on time because if there is a stalled project, it will affect the following year DAK,” explained Deni Kurniadi.

Asep Muslih asked Tanah Bumbu Regency government to not only rely on central budget to build library and reading interest. DPRD is advised to allocate regional budget for library through regional regulation of library management. “Because if there is regional regulation, regional budget will automatically be prepared,” he said.
