National Library Proposes Additional Budget Increase for 2020

Senayan, Jakarta–National Library together with Commission X of DPR-RI again held Hearing Meeting (RDP) after Eid al-Fitr holiday, Thursday (20/6). RDP raised two main agendas, namely the discussion of Government Work Plan (RKP) and RKA-KL in the fiscal year 2020 which has decreased compared to 2019. From IDR 730,775,653,000 (2019) to IDR 603,943,283,000 (2020).   

The meeting was chaired by Head Deputy of Commission X Sutan Adil Hendra, and was attended by Prime Secretary of National Library, Sri Sumekar along with structural officers and librarians.

In her presentation, Prime Secretary Sri Sumekar explained a number of National Library’s achievements in 2018, such as increase in Indonesia’s rank at 16th place of 30 countries based on the result of a survey conducted by Survey World Culture Index on reading duration category, which is six hours per week.

Meanwhile, National Library’s Open Access Information is ranked the first and Indonesia is ranked the second as a country with the most libraries in the world. For those achievements, National Library succeeded in getting reward from Ministry of Finance in the form of additional budget of IDR 20 billion in 2020.   

At the conclusion of RDP, it was found that the indicative ceiling of National Library RAPBN in 2020 has been lowered to IDR 603,943,283,000. The amount of budget received will be focused on the functions of education and public services.

Next, National Library has officially written to Ministry of Finance and Bappenas to propose an additional budget of IDR 258,090,420,000 for operational needs and non-operational activities in 2020.
