DPRD of Kaur Regency Desires Library as Means of Public Recreation
Salemba, Jakarta—Inadequate infrastructure facility at Kaur Regency library, Bengkulu Province is the attention of local DPRD. This was conveyed directly by Deputy Head of DPRD Commission III of Kaur Regency, Meridian Taher, during a work visit to National Library on Wednesday (19/6).
“The spirit of library as a storehouse of knowledge is less real. We also want library to be a recreational facility for all people, youngsters and elders,” he explained.
Responding to that, Head of Library Development and Reading Interest Assessment Centre of National Library, Dedi Kurniadi, explained that National Library will continue to foster and fully support what has been expressed by DPRD of Kaur Regency.
“Officially, National Library has provided assistance in the form of mobile library cars in 2017,” he explained.
Special Allocation Fund (DAK) 2017 for collection development has also been given to Kaur Regency Library Service as much as IDR 225 million.
“We expect assistance of monitoring function from parliament so that DAK given can be managed seriously,” added Deni.
Meanwhile, Head of Planning Division of National Library, Adin Bondar, added that there was a paradigm change related to the important role of library for public. “We hope all libraries obtain budget support,” said Adin.
