Governor Ridwan Kamil Includes Library as Part of Literacy Declaration

Bandung, West Jawa—Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, included library element as part of the Literacy Declaration signing held to coincide with Literacy Festival themed 'Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang at the Governor office on Saturday (20/4).

The second point of Literacy Declaration mentioned library as medium for lifelong learning with open, pleasant and high usefulness principles for people of West Java in improving their quality of life.

Kang Emil expected this literacy movement can succeed maximally. "We hope that the poor literacy ranking can improve," he said. 

“As it is known, Indonesia is ranked 60th out of 61 countries in terms of literacy and reading. However, don’t be discouraged. Our duty is now to find solution. First, reading culture. I entrust it to heads of local governments to oblige reading before entering class in playgroup (PAUD), kindergarten (TK), elementary school (SD), middle school (SMP), high school (SMA),” ordered Governor.

The signing of Literacy Declaration was attended by Director of National Library, Muhammad Syarif Bando, Head of West Java Regional Representative of Bank Indonesia, West Java, Doni P Joewono, Mother of Literacy West Java, Atalia Praratya, and Acting Director of Bank Jabar Banten, Agus Mulyana.
