London, UK—This year Indonesia became the Focus Market in London Book Fair 2019. London Book Fair is an international exhibition for copyright negotiation and sale as well as distribution of book, magazine, audio, television, film, and digital channel contents. London Book Fair is held at Olympia Conference and Exhibition Centre, March 12-14, 2019. Creative Economic Agency (Bekraf) together with Indonesian National Book Committee and National Library of Indonesia built a big booth with ’17.000 Islands of Imagination’ as theme.

National Library took part by displaying three manuscript replicas that had been registered as Memory of the World (MoW), namely I La Galigo, Babad Diponegoro, and Negarakertagama.

In addition to displaying three Memory of the World manuscript replicas, National Library also displayed information on various ancient manuscripts of National Library. Besides manuscripts, National Library also exhibited collections on Indonesian culture, art and tourism. All information is displayed on monitor screen and also on tablet.

Printed and digital exhibition catalogs are made to attract visitors. The catalog contained MoW manuscripts and Indonesiana collection belonging to National Library and was distributed to visitors.

Head of General Collection Service of National Library, Agus Sutoyo, who participated in London Book Fair exhibition, said that National Library is committed to literacy world in order to develop and support lifelong learning.

Visitor enthusiasm at National Library’s booth was very high. As Focus Market Country, Indonesian booth was visited by various foreign publishers to negotiate about copyright. With an attractive booth, many visitors seemed to enliven. The unique design configuration that blends with design of other Indonesian booths is one of the factors making visitors stopped by and had a look at National Library booth. “You know, I love your stand. It’s wonderful,” said one visitor from Germany.
